Ever walk into a public restroom believing it to be unoccupied while holding a conversation with yourself in your mind only to find out after several minutes by way of some noise in an opposite stall that someone else is in the bathroom and then racing back through your conversation to try and remember if it was all in your head or if you were in fact speaking to yourself out loud? That’s awkward.

Ok, imagine this…you are out to dinner at a restaurant and someone at a table on the other side of the place suddenly grabs their chest and falls over. It’s cardiac arrest. He’s gonna die without CPR. Fortunately, there is a doctor in the house. He runs over, rolls up his sleeves, gets down in the chest compression position and starts: “You can tell by the way I use my walk I’m a woman’s man, no time to talk…”
Yes, it’s true. The Bee Gees’ Stayin’ Alive is the perfect rhythm for doing chest compressions according to Dr. David Matlock of the University of Illinois College of Medicine at Peoria.
This is the best part:
The findings will be presented this month at a meeting of the American College of Emergency Physicians in Chicago.

I listened to a study yesterday where the teacher was saying that our modern idea of having a personal relationship with Jesus is skewed because the Bible doesn’t really speak of our relationship with Jesus in those terms. He was saying that while it is true that I should have an intimate relationship with Jesus, the Bible speaks of my relationship with Jesus in the context of His Church. I am part of the body and I function, personally tied to Jesus, for the edification of the body. It’s not just me and Jesus by ourselves, it’s me and Jesus for others. I cannot be concerned with what Jesus is doing for me or how I am affected by Jesus, but what Jesus is doing in others through me. Maybe it’s just semantics, but I thought that was interesting.

The ESV Study Bible comes out next week. It looks like it’s a pretty cool Bible. I like the ESV and there are quite a lot of major scholars contributing to the study Bible.

It was my job to make dinner tonight for myself and my daughter. We have had mexican for several days now, with lots of leftover ingredients. We also had some pizza dough that Joanna had prepared several days ago that needed to be used. So, I made Mexican Pizza!

Mmm…a wheat crust with a guacamole/sour cream/garlic/olive oil sauce, topped with mexican taco cheese, red and orange peppers, cilantro sprigs, some pico de gallo and black beans. It was a hit before it was out of the oven.
Unfortunately, my daughter didn’t hardly eat any of it because my wife:

was against my culinary experience from the get go. She is recovering from oral surgery and since she was not able to partake of my delicious meal, felt the need to deride my cooking skills in front of our impressionable daughter. The only bright side to this is that there was more for me.

There are 2 distinct ways to open a 1/2 gallon box of ice cream. The right way and the wrong way. Opening the box “suitcase” style with the long side on the countertop is clearly the superior method. When a box of ice cream is opened at the end, the unfortunate person that takes the last of the scoops will inevitably get ice cream on their wrist or shirt sleeve, possibly their wrist watch. I am at a loss as to why the ice cream box people still manufacture a clearly defective product and why those people whose ice cream I share make use of it.

I was planning on having Warmoth build me a neck for my baritone project, but I found a Deep 6 neck by wdmusic on ebay for $200 cheaper this weekend, so I bought it. It should be here next week. This guitar may be playable soon.

This a good word for me today. We signed papers this morning, selling The Cottage. It’s a good thing, God has been moving us in this direction for a while, but it’s still sad.
The new owners take over tomorrow. We will be staying on to train them for a month, but this is really my last night here as the owner. I’m giving up my keys, my computer, my office, my kitchen.
On the other hand, I’m excited to see what God is going to do, both here at The Cottage and with my family. We have nothing tying us down right now; we could move somewhere, I could go back to school, get a job in a whole new field, the possibilities are endless…just about. It will be fun.
